Michel Decré practices and teaches the Japanese Tea Ceremony in his Japanese-style tea room "Wa Shin An" in Eindhoven. He has been studying the Japanese Tea Ceremony since 1995 with Nojiri Sōmei (宗命) sensei, who allowed him to teach from 2009. In 2014, Urasenke headmaster Sen Soshitsu XVI granted him the grade of tea master with the Tea Name Sōgi (宗義). Michel Decré practices zen meditation since 1982. He participated to zen retreats in Europe and Japan, and followed the teachings of Yamada Sōshō Oshō, of Shinjū-an (Daitokuji, Kyōtō) and Zen instructor Wanda van Koeveringe-Sluyter of Zen Centrum Eindhoven.
